Detailed Itinerary
At the heart of the journey lies Dudh Kunda Lake (4,560 m)—a holy site believed to cleanse the soul and fulfill wishes.
Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be received and transferred to your hotel in Kathmandu. After check-in, take time to rest and recover from your journey. Later, enjoy a short briefing where your guide will explain the trek route, homestay experience, cultural etiquette, and safety information. Overnight in Kathmandu.
After an early breakfast, begin a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Phaplu in the lower Solukhumbu region. The journey takes you through winding mountain roads, terraced farmland, rivers, and traditional villages. As you gain altitude, enjoy views of lush hills and distant Himalayan peaks. Upon arrival in Phaplu, settle into a local lodge or homestay and explore the surrounding village.
Today’s trek begins with a gradual climb through forested trails and traditional settlements. Pass through rhododendron and pine forests while enjoying peaceful mountain scenery. The trail leads to Taksindu, a culturally rich village known for its monastery and warm Sherpa hospitality. Experience your first authentic homestay and learn about local mountain life.
Leaving Taksindu, the trail descends and ascends through dense forests and small Sherpa villages. Along the way, enjoy panoramic views of rolling hills and snow-capped peaks in the distance. The walk is relaxed and culturally immersive. Reach Ringmo village, famous for its apple orchards and traditional lifestyle. Overnight in a homestay.
Today is a more challenging and rewarding day as you head toward higher elevations. The trail gradually climbs through alpine landscapes, yak pastures, and rugged terrain. As you approach the base camp, dramatic mountain scenery unfolds. Arrive at Dudh Kunda Base Camp, surrounded by towering peaks, and rest in preparation for the sacred lake visit.
Start early for a special hike to Dudh Kunda Lake, a sacred glacial lake revered by both Hindus and Buddhists. Known as the “Milky Lake,” it sits beneath the majestic Numbur Himal. Spend time exploring the lake area, enjoying the spiritual atmosphere and breathtaking views. Afterward, return to base camp for overnight rest.
Descend carefully from the high alpine zone back toward greener landscapes. The trail retraces your path through yak pastures and forests, offering a more relaxed walk with fresh perspectives. Reach Ringmo village and enjoy a comfortable homestay, sharing stories and meals with local families.
In the morning, trek back to Phaplu, enjoying the final views of the Solukhumbu hills. After lunch, begin the return drive to Kathmandu. Arrive in the evening and transfer to your hotel, marking the end of a memorable homestay-based Himalayan adventure.
