Overview
The Nagarkot to Dhulikhel Day Hike is one of the most rewarding short treks near Kathmandu Valley. This scenic journey combines Himalayan mountain views, traditional village life, and a pleasant countryside walk — all within a single day.
Nagarkot is famous for its sunrise and sunset views over the Himalayas. On clear days, you can see a wide stretch of mountain ranges, including Mount Everest in the far distance. After enjoying the views, the hike begins with a gentle descent through pine forests, terraced rice fields, and small rural settlements.
The trail passes through Nala village, an important cultural and religious site with both Hindu temples and Buddhist shrines. As you continue toward Dhulikhel, you will witness authentic rural life — farmers working in the fields, children walking to school, and locals engaged in daily activities.
Dhulikhel, the final destination, is a beautifully preserved Newari town known for its ancient temples, traditional brick houses, and rich cultural heritage. From here, you will drive back to Kathmandu, completing a refreshing day of hiking and exploration.
